Page indicator
Displays the current page number(s). Double-click here to go to a specific page.
In a draw document, to go to a specific page from a master page, deselect Edit Master Page (from the Options menu) and double-click the page indicator.
Fill pict
Fill indicator
Shows the current fill attributes.
To change the fill color, pattern, or gradient, select the desired options from the palettes below.
Fill Color
Displays a palette of colors you can use to fill objects.
To set the fill color, click here and select a color.
Fill Pattern
Displays a palette of patterns you can use to fill objects.
To set the fill pattern, click here and select a pattern.
Fill Gradient
Displays a palette of gradients you can use to fill objects.
To set the fill gradient, click here and select a gradient.
Pen pict
Pen indicator
Shows the current pen attributes.
To change the pen color, pattern, or width, or add arrowheads to lines, select options from the palettes below.
Pen Color
Displays a palette of colors you can use for drawing lines or borders.
To set the pen color, click here and select a color.
Pen Pattern
Displays a palette of patterns you can use for drawing lines or borders.
To set the pen pattern, click here and select a pattern.
Pen Width
Displays a palette of pen widths you can use for drawing lines or borders.
Click here and select a pen width or choose Other to set a custom pen width.
Arrows
Sets the options for arrowheads.
Click here and select an option for adding arrowheads to lines.
Left Tab marker
To set up a left tab, drag this marker to the desired point on the text ruler.
Center Tab marker
To set up a center tab, drag this marker to the desired point on the text ruler.
Right Tab marker
To set up a right tab, drag this marker to the desired point on the text ruler.
Align-On Tab marker
Aligns text on a specified character, such as a decimal point or dash.
To set up an align-on tab, drag this marker to the desired point on the text ruler.
To choose an align-on character, double-click the tab marker.
Left Alignment control
To align text evenly along the left margin, select the text and click here.
To left justify a single paragraph, click anywhere in the paragraph and click the left alignment control.
Centered Alignment control
To center text between the left and right margins, select the text and click here.
To center a single paragraph, click anywhere in the paragraph and click the centered alignment control.
Right Alignment control
To align text evenly along the right margin, select the text and click here.
To right justify a single paragraph, click anywhere in the paragraph and click the right alignment control.
Justified Alignment control
To align text evenly along both the left and the right margins, select the text and click here.
To fully justify a single paragraph, click anywhere in the paragraph and click the justified alignment control.
Decrease-Columns control
To decrease the number of columns in the document, click here.
You can have between 1 and 9 columns in a word processing document.
Increase-Columns control
To increase the number of columns in the document, click here.
You can have between 1 and 9 columns in a word processing document.
Decrease-Spacing control
To decrease the spacing between lines of text, select the text or click anywhere in the paragraph, and click the decrease-spacing control.

Line-Spacing indicator
Displays the unit of measurement for line spacing.
To change the line spacing or unit of measurement, double-click here.
Pointer
Selects objects and frames.
ClarisWorks switches to the draw environment when you use the pointer to select an object or frame.
Text tool
To create a text frame, select the text tool, drag the I-beam pointer, release the mouse button, and start typing.
To create a text frame in a word processing document, press Option as you drag the I-beam pointer.
Spreadsheet tool
To create a spreadsheet frame, select the spreadsheet tool and drag it.
To create a spreadsheet frame in a spreadsheet document, press Option as you drag the spreadsheet tool.
Paint tool
To create a paint frame, select the paint tool and drag it.
You can then paint and edit images using the paint tools.
Line tool
To draw a line, select the line tool and drag the crosshair.
Press Shift as you drag the crosshair to draw horizontally, vertically, or at 45-degree angles.
Rectangle tool
To draw a rectangle, select the rectangle tool and drag the crosshair.
Press Shift as you drag the crosshair to draw a square.
Rounded Rectangle tool
To draw a rounded rectangle, select the rounded rectangle tool and drag the crosshair.
To set the radius of the rounded corners, double-click the rounded rectangle tool (paint) or choose Round Corners from the Options menu (draw).
Oval tool
To draw an oval, select the oval tool and drag the crosshair.
Press Shift as you drag the crosshair to draw a perfect circle.
Arc tool
To draw an arc, select the arc tool and drag the crosshair diagonally.
Press Shift as you drag the crosshair to draw a circular arc.
Polygon tool
To draw an irregular polygon, select the polygon tool, click to set the starting point, drag the crosshair, and click at each angle of the polygon.
Double-click to end the polygon.
Freehand tool
To draw a curving or irregular line, select the freehand tool and drag the crosshair.
ClarisWorks is preset to smooth the lineΓÇÖs sharp edges.
Bezigon tool
To draw a bezier curve, select the bezigon tool, click to set the starting point, drag the crosshair, and click at each point on the bezier curve.
Double-click to end the bezier curve.
Regular Polygon tool
To draw a regular polygon, select the regular polygon tool and drag the crosshair.
To set the number of sides, double-click the regular polygon tool (paint) or choose Polygon Sides from the Options menu (draw).
Eyedropper
Draw: To pick up an objectΓÇÖs pen and fill attributes, select the eyedropper and click the object.
Paint: To pick up a color from a painting, select the eyedropper and click the color you want to pick up.
Selection Rectangle tool
To select a rectangular area, click the selection rectangle tool and drag it over the area.
To leave out the white space surrounding an image, press Command as you drag the selection rectangle tool over the image.
Lasso
To select an irregular area, select the lasso and trace around the area.
The selection shrinks around the image, leaving out the surrounding white space.
Magic Wand
To select an area thatΓÇÖs painted in a specific color, select the magic wand and click the area.
Brush
To paint brushstrokes in the current fill color and pattern, select the brush and drag the paint.
Double-click the brush to change its shape.
Pencil
To paint fine lines in the current pen color, select the pencil and drag it.
Press Shift as you drag the pencil to paint horizontal or vertical lines.
Double-click the pencil to alternate between the 100% and 800% zoom levels.
Paint Bucket
To fill an area with the current fill attributes, select the paint bucket and click the area you want to fill.
Hint: To fill an area that contains many colors, select the area and choose Fill from the Transform menu.
Spray Can
To paint a flow of dots in the current fill color, select the spray can and drag the paint.
Double-click the spray can to edit the spray size.
Eraser
To remove unwanted parts of a painting, select the eraser and drag it over the areas you want to erase.
Double-click the eraser to delete everything in the document.
Book
Scrolls through records.
To navigate one record at a time, click a book page. To move several records at a time, drag the bookmark.
To search the current found set for records that meet the search criteria (ignoring hidden records), click here.
To search the entire database for records that meet the search criteria, click here.
To Omit records that meet the search criteria, click here and then click Visible or All.
The records that donΓÇÖt meet the search criteria become visible.
Entry bar
To edit a cell, select the cell and modify its contents in the entry bar.
If the cell contains a calculated value, the entry bar shows the formula.
Address box
Shows the current cellΓÇÖs address (like A1 or B2).
A cell address is made up of a column heading (such as A, B, or C) and a row heading (such as 1, 2, or 3).
Accept button
To add the contents of the entry bar to the current cell, click here.
Cancel button
To discard the changes youΓÇÖve made in the entry bar and restore the cellΓÇÖs previous contents, click here.
Size box
To change the height and width of the window, drag the size box.
Dividing lines
To adjust the size of the panes in the current window, drag the horizontal or vertical dividing line.
Pane controls
To divide the current window into panes, drag the horizontal or vertical pane control.
To restore the window to its previous state, drag the pane controls to the upper-right and lower-left edges.
Scroll bar
To scroll a little at a time, press one of the scroll arrows. To scroll by the windowful, click in the gray bar. To scroll to another part of the window, drag the scroll box.
Zoom-Out control
Shows more of the document at a reduced size.
Not available because the document is currently at 3.13%, the minimum zoom.
Zoom-In control
Shows a portion of the document at an enlarged size.
Not available because the document is currently at 3200%, the maximum zoom.
To collapse this floating palette and place it in the upper-right corner of the screen, click here.
To expand this floating palette and move it back to its original location, click here.
Phone Book control
To set up a connection and dial a specific phone number, click here and select a phone book entry from the pop-up menu.
To add entries to the phone book, choose Edit Phone Book from the pop-up menu.
Connection Clock
Shows the amount of time that has elapsed since you connected. To reset the connection clock to 00:00:00, click here.
Connection status
Shows the current connection status.
The connection status is ΓÇ£ConnectedΓÇ¥ or ΓÇ£Disconnecting,ΓÇ¥ for example.
Scrollback lines
Shows the number of lines stored in the scrollback. Click here to show the approximate size (in kilobytes) of the scrollback buffer.
